«Welcome, Sheriff (добро пожаловать, шериф),» said Robin. «You must eat with us here (ты должен отобедать: «поесть» здесь с нами).»

The proud sheriff was very angry, but he sat down (гордый шериф был очень зол, но он присел; to sit down), and Robin's men brought the food and drink (и люди Робина принесли еду и питье; to bring) — in the sheriff's best gold and silver things (на лучшей золотой и серебряной посуде шерифа; thing — вещь, предмет; утварь, предметы обихода). «Welcome, Sheriff,» said Robin. «You must eat with us here.»

The proud sheriff was very angry, but he sat down, and Robin's men brought the food and drink — in the sheriff's best gold and silver things. When he saw them, the sheriff couldn't eat anything.

«Let me go (позволь мне уйти),» said the sheriff. «Let me go and I'll be the best friend you ever had (отпусти меня, и я стану самым лучшим другом, который у тебя когда-либо был).»

Chapter 5

friar tuck

Robin Hood put an iron cap on his head (Робин Гуд надел на голову железный шлем; cap — кепка, шапка; ср.: iron hat — истор. железный шлем в виде шляпы).
