A more dangerous accident also happened to me in the Palace garden (в дворцовом саду со мной случилось и /другое/ более опасное приключение) when I was left by myself for a short time one day (когда однажды я был оставлен на короткое время один без присмотра: «с самим собой»). The Queen was never told (королеве не стали ничего рассказывать). They liked to talk to me (они любили беседовать со мной), and I would often be placed on a table for this purpose (и с этой целью часто ставили меня на стол).

To be close to a mole (находиться вблизи родинки), a vast black thing (огромного черного предмета/тела = пятна) with hairs as long as ropes (с волосками, длинными как веревки), was something that disgusted me (было для меня омерзительно: «было тем, что внушало мне отвращение»). To tell the truth (по правде говоря), the smell that came from their skins also disgusted me (запах, исходящий от их кожи , тоже вызывал у меня отвращение).

I do not intend any lack of respect to the people of Brobdingnag in telling these facts (рассказывая об этих обстоятельствах, я /вовсе/ не выражаю /этим/ пренебрежения: «недостаток/отсутствие уважения» к жителям Бробдингнага; to intend — намереваться; хотеть; иметь в виду, подразумевать). Perhaps I should add (пожалуй, мне следует прибавить) that both Glumdalclitch and the Queen always smelled very pleasant indeed (что и Глюмдалклич, и королева имели поистине очень приятный запах; deed — дело; действительность, факт; indeed — в действительности; в самом деле; /для усиления/ безусловно, конечно и т. п.).

I remember a friend of mine in Lilliput telling me one day when I had taken a lot of exercise that I had a strong smell. I suppose his sense of smell in regard to me was as strong as my own sense of smell in regard to these ladies of the Court. I do not intend any lack of respect to the people of Brobdingnag in telling these facts. Perhaps I should add that both Glumdalclitch and the Queen always smelled very pleasant indeed.

The greatest danger I was ever placed in (величайшая опасность, какой только: «когда-либо» я подвергался; to place — помещать; размещать; ставить /в какую-л. ситуацию/) during my stay in that country (во время моего пребывания в той стране) came about (приключилась) while I was sitting quietly in my bedroom box one day (когда однажды я спокойно сидел в моем спальном ящике). Looking out my own window (выглянув из своего окна), I froze with fright (я замер от ужаса; to freeze — замерзать, смерзаться; замирать, застывать /прям. и перен./) when I saw that it was a monkey (когда увидел, что это была обезьяна). This monkey belonged to one of the workers in the Palace kitchen (обезьяна эта принадлежала одному работнику: «одному/одной из работников/работниц» дворцовой кухни).
